A year ago today, Athens, Georgia, and most of the Southeastern United States was in the grips of a strong winter storm that brought up to a half a foot or more of snow to most of the region. Schools and businesses were closed for nearly a week, as freezing temperatures in the wake of the storm lingered for multiple days and ice turned most roads into skating rinks. A year later, mild, Spring like temperatures and rain are common throughout the region.
